JOY IN THE MORNING 20”w x 24”h Price: $450.00 This is personally one of my favorite pieces as the colors, textures, and feeling of light all bring me joy when I look at it. I created the three dimensional leaves by hand stitching and turning some fussy cut sections of a yellow-gold leaf fabric and then hand embroidering and beading them. I loosely needle felted some wool roving for the clouds. The sun rays are couched fibers and the flowers are embroidered with floss. I used netting to created the shadows on the trees and ground below. The right edge of the piece has a piece of silk that is stabilized with misty fuse as it hangs off the edge beyond the binding. This is a good example of my personal style of “abstract realism”. I don't try to make my images realistic and true to science, they are just inspired by what I see in my head and how the fabric leads me. My colors, shapes and proportions are not always true to the subject, but in my mind they are beautiful nevertheless.
